unasked for launching of Konqueror from OO Calc

My third day on Gutsy, and I'm VERY pleased with my experience. A few mysteries remain (!), however. Here's one:

I have links in an OO Calc spreadsheet to another OO Calc spreadsheet. Clicking such a link causes TWO things to happen, one of which is unasked for:

    1. a Kongueror instance is launched, with the root director displayed (this is not wanted).
    2. my target spreadsheet is opened in background.

Once the spreadsheet is open, clicking the link launches yet ANOTHER Konqueror instance. One can acquire quite a collection of Konqueror instances doing this!

WHY is this crazy thing happening? How can I get it to stop? I don't see any OO Calc option setting which relates to this. I don't even know where to begin, in trying to solve this problem, so any help at all would be appreciated.

I presume you are creating hyperlinks. OO is opening them in the default web browser, which I presume is Konqueror. Konqueror is then recognising the file type and opening it with OO.

I don't know how to fix this behaviour. However, if your usual web browser is not Konqueror, you could try making sure it is set as your default browser everywhere. On my system, bizarrely, OO is opening Galeon in the same situation! (Which I never use, I use Firefox 3)
I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (yes Gnome) with upgrades applied daily about 0900 UK time. Hardware is Dell Precision 420, 2x 800 MHz PIII, 512 MB RDRAM, nVidia GeForce 6800 128 MB AGP graphics, 18GB SCSI and 500GB IDE HDDs, DVD burner, Hauppage TV card.

Yes, I'm clicking on hyperlinks - in a Calc spreadsheet, which link to another calc spreadsheet file. To pass this off to Konquerer is nuts. It cannot open such a file. Furthermore my default webbrowser is firefox.

I don't understand what's happening here, or why...or how to fix it.

I don't think it's a bug, rather a missing feature. OO treats all hyperlinks identically, regardless of the file type they point to. There would be both advantages and drawbacks to it trying to do its own file type recognition, but you could put in a feature request for it (I will do myself when I can figure out how the website works). It does seem silly for it not to at least know the file types it supports.

I was puzzled to see this behavior because, coming very recently from WinXP, I haven't seen it before. OO does what's expected *there* (although it surely runs faster in Kubuntu). This is why I'm thinking its a K. problem.
