The only way to get from being a 'noob' to being 'proficient' is by doing. You have to get your hands dirty eventually - we all did, and still are.

        What you need to do:

        What: Edit sources.list
How: Open a console and type:
        Code:
        kdesu kate /etc/apt/sources.list
(enter your password and the file will be opened for editing in Kate)

What: Add Additional Sources to the bottom of sources.list file
How: Copy and paste the following to the end of the file:
        #Additional Sources
        deb http://apt2.freespire.org/CNRUbuntuExtra gutsy-extra main restricted
        deb-src http://apt2.freespire.org/CNRUbuntuExtra gutsy-extra main restricted
What: Uncomment (remove the # sign) the following two lines to add software from the backports repository.
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ gutsy-backports main restricted universe multiverse
        deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ gutsy-backports main restricted universe multiverse
What: Comment out deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 7.10 _Gutsy Gibbon_ - Release i386 (20071016)]/ gutsy main restricted
How: Add a # sign in front of the line

What: Save the File and Quit

What: Open a console and type:
        Code:
        sudo apt-get update
        And then type:
        Code:
        apt-cache showpkg cnr-client
Note: output should display Provides: (the latest build number at the top)
        And then type:
        Code:
        sudo apt-get install cnr-client freespire-archive-keyring
        And then type:
        Code:
        sudo apt-get update
        Once CNR installs properly...
Click on K Menu and check for the program CNR (not sure where it will be put) or,

From an open browser, go to: http://www.cnr.com/

As you said you've used CNR previously, you should know what to do from this point on.

Or to do it an even simpler way...

If you are using Gutsy open this page: http://www.cnr.com/supportPages/abou...oadPlugin.seam and click "Download Now" for 7.10

Right click the resulting download and install with kpackage

You have now installed the CNR Client.

Then go to cnr.com and get what you want.

I haven't used the freespire repositories and it still works

Okay, but why take the 'easy road' when the challenge of the 'twisty path' is there as well? Hey, I'm a Harley rider, and the road with the twists and turns is always preferred over the highway! 8)

Couldn't do that because it says
              Broken dependencies
Your system has broken dependencies. This application can not continue until this is fixed. To fix it run 'sudo synaptic' or 'sudo apt-get install -f' in a terminal window.

              What i did is

              jaime@jaime-laptop:~$ sudo dpkg -i '/home/jaime/cnr-client_0.2.3202_i386.deb'
              Selecting previously deselected package cnr-client.
              (Reading database ...
dpkg: serious warning: files list file for package `libx264-54' missing, assuming package has no files currently installed.
90275 files and directories currently installed.)
              Unpacking cnr-client (from .../cnr-client_0.2.3202_i386.deb) ...

              cnr-client depends on curl (>= 7.15.5); however:
              Package curl is not installed.
              cnr-client depends on libssl-dev; however:
              Package libssl-dev is not installed.
              dpkg: error processing cnr-client (--install):
              dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
              Errors were encountered while processing:

it did installed cnr but still it aint working damn i'll try more tomarrow and
break storm, there should be an easy way.
