    Anti-Virus

    Hi,

Ok I know this is a dumb question who programs viruses for Linux... It still can happen I'm sure. On my XP machine I use and only trust AVG. AVG has a linux version and I was just wondering if anyone has used it and what they think of it.

    Re: Anti-Virus

Linux viri do exist, but they are rare. Kubuntu uses iptables to control port access (you can Google on Linux iptables, or open a console and type: man iptables to learn more) and generally, installing an AV program is not necessary. In fact, with iptables, installing a firewall isn't even a requirement 'as a general rule.'

But if you want to install AV protection in Kubuntu, there is clamav, an antivirus program available in Adept Manger for selection and installation.

You may want to review the discussions on Are firestarter and clamav really necessary ??
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
