Suddenly, no sound at all... [fixed]

I had very low sound volume, which I read in ubuntu forum is related to the latest linux kernel update. I also read of some fixes for the low volume, specifically option G found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Gutsy_Intel_HD_Audio_Controller

I did it and rebooted. But now I have no sound at all. Can any of you guys help?
