    PDF READER FOR FILLABLE FORMS?

With windows I was using acrobat approval or foxit reader to fill out fillable forms and save them.
When using KPDF it doesn't even open a fillable field.
Is there something I need to change in settings or is there a better reader program out there?
    Thanks .

Does "obey drm limitations" in the settings help?

Thanks but no it did not change it
guess I am stuck with acrobat reader for linux right now
It will let you fill the blanks but can't save the data.
Need acrobat reader pro for that and besides the astronomical price they only make it for windows.
It would be nice if Foxit Reader made a linux version

          If it is this:

          Foxit
          http://www.foxitsoftware.com/

          => FoxitReaderLinux.tar.gz 3.0MB

Unpack => ReaderLinux (6.8MB) Executable file

It runs, but when i try to open pdf's:
          Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Have you tried Adobe Reader (Printting to the file (ps/pdf))?

          http://www.adobe.com/ > Downloads > Get Adobe Reader

Download the latest version of Adobe Reader

          Adobe Reader 8.1.1Adobe Reader 47.6MB
          Linux (.rpm), English

Click "Different language or operating system?" =>

Download new and previous versions of Adobe Reader

          Select an operating system
          Linux

          Select an Installer
          Linux - x86 (.deb)
          ...

          => AdobeReader_enu-8.1.1-1.i386.deb (gdebi to install)

yes i got that one(adobe) installed, but I would like to be able to save pdf fillable forms with field data.
Foxit reader does this but I can't figure out how to make it work.
I downloaded it but it don't seem to work, it says it is an executable and it opens but as how to install it I am lost.
I am somewhat familiar with tarballs on the linux dreambox, but sure it has little to do with kubuntu
in that box a tar is sort of a self installer meaning it knows where the files need to go
It also changes permissions of the file to an executable, Is this maybe something i am overlooking?
            Thanks for your insight
I am total newbie with linux and kubuntu
            More suggestions are appreciated

Re: PDF READER FOR FILLABLE FORMS?

If it's a tarball, you may find it doesn't need 'installing' as such. Just extract it somewhere and then run from that directory. That's how you use the official builds of Mozilla products, for example. If you want it to be available to all users, put it in /opt/foxit (you don't HAVE to but that's the sensible location).
I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (yes Gnome) with upgrades applied daily about 0900 UK time. Hardware is Dell Precision 420, 2x 800 MHz PIII, 512 MB RDRAM, nVidia GeForce 6800 128 MB AGP graphics, 18GB SCSI and 500GB IDE HDDs, DVD burner, Hauppage TV card.

Thanks Cantab but as Rog131 was saying, there is a problem with that program.
Maybe I'll contact foxit and look for anwsers.
Thanks for the help so far

With Kububtu 7.10, open package manager and do a search for "Evince" and install,
this is the viewer packaged with Ubuntu 7.10 (Gnome 2.20 desktop). I just did the installation and you can fill in the forms, save or print.
