Firefox crashing randomly and frequently

Started about a week ago. Firefox just closes out of the blue, sometimes I'm on the other side of the room when it happens, sometimes I'm actually using it, sometimes it's as it's opening, sometimes it's been sitting on the same web page for 15 minutes.

There's really no pattern to it. I tried shutting down my extensions and it has continued. It's extremely annoying. It does ask me if I want to restore my pages when I restart though, so it recognizes that it has crashed.

Any ideas?

What version of firefox are you running?
Are you using beryl or compiz?

No Beryl or Compiz, Firefox 2.0.## (whatever the newest version in the repos is as I update as soon as updates are available).

It is amazing, I just opened a thread with the same subject. I hapen to have Firefox and it is crashing a lot. I think it usually happen when I am playing streaming video. So, any help would be appreciated. - Pookito

all crashes so far here seem to be related to flash player, but this has been happening for a long time (since flash player version 9 release), recently crashes occur less frequently though (so it can be considered an improvement ...in a way )

best you can do is report crashes to adobe http://www.adobe.com/bin/fp9betafeedback.cgi (not sure if this is the most right link for bug reports)

Crashes on me all the time, 3 different machines on 7.10 with the latest firefox version. Definitely not flash - I'm guessing it is javascript related.

Are you guys using the 32-bit version? I'm running the 64-bit with the NSplugin wrapper for the 32-bit (flash) plugins, and I'm not seeing any stability issues.
