    Messed up login screen

    Hi,

    When I installed Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon it had this real nice and shiny login screen. I experimented a bit with other styles and background images but it never really worked and it turned the login window into an ugly grey rectangular thing. And I don't know how to get back the original window style and background... This makes me feel like a total newbie but I searched the whole "Login Screen" panel in the Control Center and pressed Reset Defaults on about any place that was even remotely related to this, but I can't get it back.

    Of course this is not terribly important but it just looked way better before...

    Can anyone help me with this one?

      I was having the same problem. Here is how I fixed it:
      Code:
      kdesudo kate /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc
      Look for the section that starts with:
      Code:
      [X-*-Greeter]
      Change/Add the lines:
      Code:
      UseTheme=true
      Theme=/usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/kubuntu
      Then just "ctrl/alt/backspace" to restart kdm and all should be back to normal.
