shutdown restart buttons missing on gutsy + xgl +ati

    Hello everybody!
this is my first time in this forum! Probably my question had been already answered somewhere else in this forum but I didn't managed to find it!!!

    Here is my problem:

I've freshly installed kubuntu gutsy in my laptop, everything ok. I installed the restricted drivers for my X700 ati card, then I installed xserver-xgl and compiz (and many other packages as I read in many howtos).

Compiz works without problems, the only problem is that when I want to reboot or shutdown the reboot/shutdown buttons does not appears. The only one that appears is "End session", like if I had started the session from a console (tty) with startx and not from kdm.

If you didn't understand what I mean I could try to explain it better.

    Sorry for my English!

My friend who use ATI graphic card encounter this too. I know the culprit of this problem is xserver-xgl. But as you know, without xserver-xgl the compiz effect can't run.

I am using Nvidia graphic card and removing xserver-xgl solve the problem for me( of course the compiz effect still can run).

Maybe you want try to remove xserver-xgl first? and find another way to run the compiz
