    KDE4 RC1 installation problem

    Hi everyone,

I've been having problems installing KDE 4.. I followed the procedure and I am faced with two problems.. Basically, I dont care much about the XTERM since I want to be able to load with KDE 4 as my permanent workspace environment. My problem is with installing KDM-KDE4 and choosing it, it just doesn't let me.. And when I follow the procedure to have KDE4 in my xsessions under /usr/share/xsessions, I chose KDE4, the screen goes black and it brings me right back to the login page.

Please read the problems listed below.. Hopefully some of you will have a solution...

    After entering this:
    Quote:
    Xephyr:1 & export DISPLAY=:1; xterm
    I get this:

    Quote:
    [1] 5772
    bash: Xephyr:1: command not found
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: :1
    [1]+ Exit 127 Xephyr:1
    Any ideas?

    And when I enter this:

    Quote:
    sudo apt-get install kdm-kde4
    I get this:

    Quote:

    Building dependency tree

kdm-kde4 is already the newest version.

    libtar libebml0 libxerces27 libmatroska0 libsdl-image1.2
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.

Need to get 0B of archives.
After unpacking, 0B of additional disk space will be used.
    Setting up kdm-kde4 (4:3.96.0-1ubuntu2~gutsy2~ppa1) ...
    dpkg: error processing kdm-kde4 (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
    Errors were encountered while processing:
    kdm-kde4
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

IMHO if the 'final bits' of code are still 'falling into place', it's not a Release Candidate - it's a beta. Release Candidate should mean Release Candidate - honestly believing that it could be made the final release without changing any code at all, but not sure all the bugs are out. Let's not stoop to MS's level, where beta means alpha, RC means beta, and final release means RC.
