Can't get v7.10 to connect to internet

I installed v7.10 without a hitch and notice it's faster than v7.04, but can't seem to get my dialup connection to work. I'm using a serial modem. and I get the following error:

"An error occurred while loading. Could not connect to host http://www.ebay.com." Used eBay as an example. Get the same message no matter what site I try.

I know the modem is connecting OK, just can't figure this part out. Thanks.

Is this the same as configuring /etc/resolve.conf? If so, how do I do that?

Try: dcop kded networkstatus setNetworkStatus NMNetwork 1 in console and try to load a page again

Make sure that your /etc/hosts file is in order. Had the same issue.

Make sure you aren't using a Linksys RV016
