I did search and based on what I found, I removed avahi and zeroconf, but SMB4K is still not seeing any computers on my network. HELP!! please?

I don't have it loaded anymore as I really don't find it that useful. If you haven't tried it, click on the little desktop computer on the left of your taskbar and go to remote places>samba shares and it will likely get you to the same place. I used to use it. You can go into the settings and set your workgroup, etc. If you haven't done that, give it a shot. -

Thanks for the tip, but it doesn't work either. Tells me "unable to find any workgroups on your network." It doesn't even see the local network.Comment

Have you edited your /etc/samba/smb.conf file? If not, navigate to that directory with dolphin or whatever you use, right click on that file and got to actions>edit as root. The file is documented and should be self explanatory. That will let you set a machine name and a workgroup. Do a shutdown and restart (yes, there are other ways) and try it again.Comment

You need to restart networking/samba for the change to take effect. If you didn't reboot, you need to. If you have already gone in and input the settings into smb4k, the only other thing that I can think of is to try the nmblookup alternative that is available in the settings. I don't have the time today to fool around with installing it and I am not sure that I would be able to figure it out if I did.

I rebooted last night before I went to bed, then checked it this morning. I did finally get it to work just now, though.
I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but I did a search in SMB4k for my other PC (Windoze), then did another search for my network drives. I then went back to the Network Browser tab and lo and behold it found the network AND all the servers and net drives.
