    Default applications

I installed the xubuntu-desktop package, to compare it with kubuntu. It's changed all my default applications (in firefox at least) to its stuff. How can I change them back to their defaults?
I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (yes Gnome) with upgrades applied daily about 0900 UK time. Hardware is Dell Precision 420, 2x 800 MHz PIII, 512 MB RDRAM, nVidia GeForce 6800 128 MB AGP graphics, 18GB SCSI and 500GB IDE HDDs, DVD burner, Hauppage TV card.

    Re: Default applications

A few of the major ones are in kmenu>system settings>default applications.
For anything else just right click on a file of that type>properties>click on the little spanner button>select which app to use by default
For firefox in particular, go to preferences>content> you will see a section called file types and a button saying 'manage', click it and set the default programs to what you want.
