    Replacement for Strigi

    I removed Strigi as it was eating up my resources, if im right.
    Now i wanted to search for something on my machine.. couldnt figure out how..
    Could anyone suggest the best alternative to Strigi..
    Google desktop doesnt show up in adept..

    Some use Beagle.

    I personally don't use anything like that. I keep everything relatively organized, and anything I can't find can be found with a combination of locate, find, or grep.

        And you can use the locate function of Konqueror. Simply type locate:filename in the URL line of Konqueror and press enter.

          Please excuse my ignorance, I want to remove Strigi as well but don't know the exact package name, apt-get remove strigi doesn't work, thanks !

            Not to imply otherwise, but as your post didn't show ...

            Are you using sudo apt-get? The Source package: strigi (0.5.7-1~gutsy1) listing can be viewed here.
