    dictionary

    hi
    please suggest a dictionary that i can use in the desktop..
    i dont want it to go fetch definitions from the internet

    im new to linux.. so please do instruct me

    Press Alt+F2
    Type kdict and press enter. If this application is installed (it should be) it will open on your desktop.
    Windows no longer obstructs my view.

      You can install Stardict via Synaptic or Adept, there are also other dictionaries and thesauri to download from their website and install via the konsole... which can be confusing and off-putting until the copy/paste ritual is learnt, but it's an excellent dictionary.

        i tried kdict.. its gets defns from the internet
        stardict says not found for any word i type in..
        installed and tried both thru adept

          You need to go to Stardict's site and download then install the dictionaries.
          Stardict is only the interface.
