    amarok and mp3 support

I'm trying to play mp3's with amarok and it says it needs to download mp3 support. So, I click yes to download and after it finishes, it says I need to restart amarok. After restart, I try to play an mp3 and it says the samething again and it just keeps going through this loop? Any ideas?

Are you sure you are shutting amarok down? Closing the interface doesn't kill the app. You need to right click and quit from the amarok icon in the system tray to kill the app. Don't mean to offend.

There's a package you should install, but I can't think of the name of it, and I can't find it by searching...
      Anyone know of the name?
      For external use only.

          http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/met...tricted-extras
          Package: kubuntu-restricted-extras (10) [multiverse]
          Commonly used restricted packages

This package depends on some commonly used packages in the Kubuntu multiverse repository.

Installing this package will pull in support for MP3 playback and decoding, Java runtime environment, Flash plugin, DVD playback, and LAME (to create compressed audio files).

Please note that packages from multiverse are restricted by copyright or legal issues in some countries. See http://www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/licensing for more information.
If you already have mp3/kubuntu-restricted-extras then maybe it is this

Sometimes /home/user/.xine folder gets garbled. Removing it helps:

Topic: Amarok 1.4.5, libxine-extracodecs installed, no mp3 playback
