Rar files - have no "extract here" menu

I just went over to Kubuntu from Ubuntu.

One thing that I'm used to in Ubuntu is to be able to rightclick on a rar file and select "extract here" to quickly extract the file(s) in the current folder.

In Ubuntu, all I needed to do was to install rar from synaptic and then it worked fine. Not in Kubuntu though. In kubuntu I installed rar from Adept, but no "extract here" option when I rightclick a rar file.

Using Konqueror as file viewer.

Any suggestions on how to solve this?

Do you have karchiver or/and ark :

karchiver
With kArchiver, you can create and manipulate tar.gz, tar.bz2, zip, rar...
archives just with your mouse. You can add files, remove (with undo/redo),
view one or more files thanks to its multiselection window.

You can also convert files between various archive formats, for example a
tar.bz2 to a zip, or even create multi-platform self-extracting archives!

KArchiver has some wizards that will help you in compiling and
installing softwares through an interface, and in applying patches. It has
an archive "browser", that displays archives in the current directory,
a search tool (to quickly find all archives) and an automatic
splitter/unsplitter to make a file fit on a floppy or inside an email.
kArchiver has been made to be intuitive and powerful!
ark
Ark is a graphical program for managing various archive formats within the
KDE environment. Archives can be viewed, extracted, created and modified
from within Ark.

The program can handle various formats such as tar, gzip, bzip2, zip, rar and
lha (if appropriate command-line programs are installed).

Ark can work closely with Konqueror in the KDE environment to handle archives,
if you install the Konqueror Integration plugin available in the konq-plugins
package.

This package is part of KDE, as a component of the KDE utilities module.
See the 'kde' and 'kdeutils' packages for more information.
Here karchiver has konqueror servicemenu (right click filw )> Actions > Compress/Extract/Extract to...
Ark has servicemenu > Extract > Extract Here/Extract to <file>/Extract To

Yes ark is installed by default and I can use it to unrar rar files, but I still don't have the possibility to choose extract here or extract to in the menu when righclicking.

Re: Rar files - have no "extract here" menu

Hmm - do you have:

konq-plugins - plugins for Konqueror, the KDE file/web/doc browser

Note
kubuntu-desktop depends: konq-plugins.

If i remove konq-plugins (and kubuntu-desktop) then i don't have Ark's servicemenu, but i have karchiver servicemenu.

Re: Rar files - have no "extract here" menu

I'm guessing you are using Dolphin as the file manager (which is the default in Gutsy)? If so, it doesn't have the right-click menus that Konqueror has when integrated with Ark. If you really need this feature, I would strongly suggest using Konqueror instead of Dolphin.

No need for karchiver. konq-plugins installed by default.

I do use konqueror. What I Do is that I open a NTFS partition that kubuntu has mounted automatically and that is opened in konqueror. I havent had time to check for konq-plugins yet since I'm not at home.

When I upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy this option disappeared from Konqueror and I had to install the plug in.

Yes I have konq-plugins and I do have ark on the menu when rightclicking, but only option to open in ark or to compress with ark. No extract here option.
