ATI Radeon 7000 in kubuntu 7.10?

I installed a card ATI Radeon 7000... How do I install the drivers for this in kubuntu 7.10?

    Thanks

I believe the answer is - you don't, because it is not supported.

Assuming that it does not have a specific name other than 7000, I guess it the same problem as my 9200SE: No specific X driver, and no ATI driver for Linux.

You can do two things - choose the generic ATI driver (not the manufactuirer's list) or use VESA.

Do not try installing any driver that is not very clearly said to be for any ATI, as it may lead you into a lot of trouble.

Did that, still got trouble and configuration files so long they are virtually impossible to read.

Well, the fglrx (ATI proprietary) driver doesn't officially support that card, but you might want to try it anyway... You can use my script to install the driver.

If that doesn't work, you can use the open-source radeon driver. Install the xserver-xorg-video-ati package, back up /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and execute "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg", selecting the radeon (or ati) driver, and your preferred resolutions.
      For external use only.
