    Video Software

Guys, I was wondering, Do we have any software that would record what is happening in the computer screen. I would love to put some video at Youtube or Google video about my computer and I would not like to recorded using a digital camera. Is there any software that would record what I would be doing on my computer screen?

    Re: Video Software

    http://www.demorecorder.com/ is one option.

There is also a program in Adept called krecordmydesktop
http://recordmydesktop.iovar.org/rug/intro.php It puts a systray icon to control recording, saves as ogg theora (open standard, but not as widely playable), records the full desktop screen

    and there is also
    xvidcap
This is also a siple app that saves an mpeg in your home dir, It has a resizable capture window. The deb file in my link works in gutsy quite well.

I have not tried demorecorder, but did play with the other 2 briefly. I'd give all a try and see what you like best.

don't know, as i downloaded it and installed it that way just this afternoon

Are you running 64 bit? A lot of things for 64 bit may not work unless specially built for that architecture

searching google and/or the forums on the exact error messages will yield more info for you

                    Re: Video Software

Typing lsb_release -a or cat /etc/lsb-release in a konsole shell provides more useful data on the installed version. I prefer lsb_release -a. Example on my Feisty system:
                    uname -a
                    Linux paul-toshiba-laptop 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Sun Sep 23 19:50:39 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

                    lsb_release -a
                    No LSB modules are available.
                    Distributor ID: Ubuntu
                    Description: Ubuntu 7.04
                    Release: 7.04
                    Codename: feisty
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

                        Re: Video Software

The information that lsb_release -a gave you indicates that you are (currently) running Debian Etch, not Kubuntu Gutsy! Did you have Debian installed before you installed Gutsy??

                            Re: Video Software

                            Well....

                            DebianEdu / Skolelinux
                            DebianEdu
is a project about utilizing Debian to make the best distribution for educational purposes.
                            Skolelinux
is the name of a CustomDebianDistribution which is produced by the DebianEdu project.
"Skole" ([skuːl]) is the Norwegian form of "school". Both "skole" and "school" comes from the Latin word "schola".

Are you sure you downloaded the Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10 .iso file? Again, based on the results of lsb_release -a you are not running Gutsy. I'm going to let others who are actually running Gutsy add their comments on this.
