Brightness Control

Hi
I upgraded from kubuntu from 7.04 to 7.10
i am not able to conrol the brightness increase / decrease.
the function key doesnt seem to work
anything that i can do to fix it?
i am really new to linux.. so please do instruct me in simple steps

I could set the brightness through the power manager..
but the function keys still dont work

There's an open bug for this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145337

It's being worked on right now and hopefully a fix will be out soon. There's a workaround posted that gets the functionality back too.
