    Hi

How does it get stuck exactly ? Could you be more precise ? Also, is it possible that it is overheating ? (I use ksensors to monitor temperature). Memory problems are also usual suspects. I think you can run a memory test from the LiveCD ...

What do you mean by that? Are you running compiz-fusion?

You can possibly learn which process is taking up the resources by opening a console window and entering
            Code:
            top
"Top" lists the running processes in descending order of resource-intensity.

Then put your console window, with top running, in the corner of your screen somewhere. When the system "gets stuck", top will still be showing the most resource-intensive process at the top of the list, and you will be able to see what it is. Knowing this may provide information that you need to change the configuration so your system does not get stuck.

What happens when you turn compiz-fusion off (alt+F2->kwin --replace->enter) and run a normal kde session?

Compiz-fusion is very buggy with kde at the moment if not configured right.

I used to get this issue sometimes, not related to Compiz.

For some reason KDE would think that I was on desktop 2, when I was really on desktop 1, so it appears that its locked up when really everything is happening on the other desktop.

Sometimes switching to VT1 and back fixes this, and sometimes if you have a hot key for desktop switching, that works too.

Try both of those methods next time...
