Can't get back to default font appearance despite proper setting.

I'm always a bit of a fusspot when it comes to fonts.
Anyway, this gutsy version has the same problem (for me) as every previous version. If I decide to change the font settings (type of font, not sure about anti-aliasing) and I decide to go back to the original, the original now looks bad. Either it's the wrong size or too thick or blurry. Short of a real fix, what file can I backup that contains the font settings so I don't have to do a complete re-install just for things to look nice again?

Are you fussing about fonts on screen (KDE apps), browser fonts, or printed fonts?

Well, I'm no expert and don't mess with my fonts. Which means the default Gutsy fonts and settings are still on my system exactly as they were originally installed about a month ago when it was Gutsy RC.

So, I'll tell you what they are, and maybe you can reset yours.

Do Alt-F2, "kcontrol", and open "Appearances and Themes". On "Fonts" it is Sans Serif 9 all the way down, except for "Fixed Width" which is set to Monospace 9. "Use Anti-Aliasing" is set to "System Settings" and "Force fonts DPI" is set to "Disabled".

Back to Appearances and Themes, and open "GTK Styles and Fonts". "GTK Styles has a bullet in "Use my KDE style in GTK applications. "GTK Fonts" has a bullet in "Use my KDE fonts in GTK applications." I see no other settings marked on that screen.

I took a look in "KDE Components", and the only reference to fonts is under the "File Manager", where on the "Appearance" tab it says the standard font is "Sans Serif" and the size is 9.
