As some of you may know I have 2 sound cards - laptop's Intel HDA and USB Creative Xmod. I set Xmod to the default one:
asoundconf set-default-card Xmod
However Kmilo still controls the card No 0 - the HDA. And when I (re)start Kmix the Xmod is not selected there, Kmix simply selects a card with least index - the HDA in my case. I think it is logical that the default card should be selected in Kmix and Kmilo must control the selected/active card, but not the card with least index.
I suggest two improvements of Kmix and Kmilo:
1. Kmix should respect system-wide default card regardless of its index, the default card has to be selected/active in the Kmix .
2. Next, Kmilo have to control the selected/active in Kmix sound card but not the one with least index in Kmix as it is now.
These changes would greatly improve experience USB sound card owners - now we have to control sound volume and mute/unmute via alsamixer or Kmix sliders, laptop's keys, USB sound controls work improperly.
Where should I send my ideas ? Can anyone help me ?
