Upgraded to gutsy broke CD mounting

Hello; I'm new to this forum but not to Linux or Ubuntu. I have been running kubuntu feisty for several months an just recently upgraded to gutsy. Since upgrading, I cannot mount cds or dvds through KDE-based methods (storage media applet, kio, konqueror, dolphin, etc). I get the error " feature only available with HAL".

    1. HAL is installed and hald is running
    2. I can mount cd's at the prompt without any trouble
    3. Tested with several known-good CDs, so it's not a media error
    4. Gives the same error even with a fresh user account, so it's not just some junk user config data left over from the old install.

    Any ideas?

It seems to be fixed now, though I'm not sure what exactly fixed it since I took the "shotgun approach". i deleted anything under ~/.kde that mentioned anything about kio, then reinstalled anything related to kde+hal or kio. After that and a reboot, it seems to be working now.

I had the same after upgrade, resinstalled for some other (far more) annoying reason, and now it works like charm. So it looks not related to .kde in my case as i kept my /home
