Eclipse fails to load: Java error

    Hey everyone,

I switched to Kubuntu a few weeks ago, and after installing Eclipse, I started getting error messages. The following is what I get, although this is from the latest attempt. I've tried uninstalling java5 and reinstalling it, and I've tried java6 as well as blackdown JDK, all installed using apt-get.

I'm using Gusty Gibbon (obviously), on an x86 laptop.

I also copied the log referenced at the bottom of the error message from the shell terminal, but thought it was too long, so I've saved it here: http://3rd-element.net/hs_err_pid10002.log.txt

Re: Eclipse fails to load: Java error

What version of Eclipse was installed? A Gutsy 32-bit Ubuntu .deb package is available here.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Great! I'm not sure why the one using "apt-get install eclipse" is different, but it works. Thanks

Re: Eclipse fails to load: Java error

In your case, using apt-get install eclipse uses the repositories that are listed in /etc/apt/sources.list. The eclipse .deb package I pointed you to is in a repository that is not in your list.
