I used avidemux to transcode an avi file to a vcd mpg file. I grabbed vcdimager via adept. It seemed to install fine with some dependencies. When I got to burn the vcd, k3b starts going to its paces and gets to about 70% overall (not started burning yet) and pukes like a big mutt. I get the kde crash handler complete with lots of silliness. If it is at all helpful, here is the output.
