KDM Theme won't change 100%...default still partly there

    Hi, first time here.

I created a new KDM login theme to replace the default. When I apply the change in kdmtheme and restart my computer, here's what happens:

    1. The default Kubuntu KDM wallpaper shows for a couple seconds
    2. My custom theme is displayed at the point where the user can type in username/password
    3. As soon as the user presses enter, the default Kubuntu KDM theme is shown again as the splash/loading screen.

My difficulty is this: I had deleted the default KDM theme from the themes folder! I did a search on my hard disk but I can't see the default theme anywhere. Anybody know where KDM is pulling the default theme from? It's driving me mad.

    Thanks!

the default Kubuntu KDM theme is shown again as the splash/loading screen.
    That is (probably) kde splash

    KDM Theme

KDM, or the KDE Display Manager, allows you to have a graphical interface to login to your Kubuntu session.
    Splash Screen

The Splash Screen is the animated image or screen that is displayed while KDE loads after you log in. Each user can have a different splash screen.

    Here are examples:
    Kubuntu-Volutes
    http://kde-look.org/content/show.php...?content=57907
    Description:
A KDM theme for Kubuntu users, made from scratch with the GIMP.
    And matching splash screen:
    Kubuntu-Volutes
    http://kde-look.org/content/show.php...?content=57909
    Description:
The KDE splash screen (for the Moodin engine) that matches the KDM theme

My difficulty is this: I had deleted the default KDM theme from the themes folder! I did a search on my hard disk but I can't see the default theme anywhere. Anybody know where KDM is pulling the default theme from?
    No need to delete anything.

    Do you have ?
kdmtheme - theme manager for KDM
kdmtheme is a theme manager for KDM. It provides a KDE Control Module (KCM)
that allows you to easily install, remove and change your KDM themes.

    Homepage: http://beta.smileaf.org/projects
    Then : K > System Settings > Appearance > KDM Theme Manager

Kde Splash: K > System Settings > Splash Screen

    There are:
    Kde theme
    /home/USER/.kde/share/apps/kthememanager/themes/

    Kdm theme
    /usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/

Doh! Thank you very much for your help with this - I had no idea it was the splash screen.

If you wish to change the wallpaper that is briefly shown in transitions (before the kdm login theme shows, for example) you can set the wallpaper in SystemSettings>Advanced>LoginManager>Background (You need to click the 'Administrator Mode' button to make changes)

Thanks so much for that! I was about to reply asking how to change that aspect. Now I just need to bookmark this thread so I can help others with the same problem.
