    soundproblem with a twist

    ok this is the delio

    Hardware:
Zepto Notebook 3415W running the HDA-intel realtek 268 sound chipset

    Problem:
    No sound

    Troubleshooting:
I have tried to update the alsa drivers and I get the amixer to work and I see both right and left channel,

the problem still persists since all the guides are written for ubuntu and I am somewhat of a n00b when it comes to this.

If the format of this post is not according to forum standards a apologies, I am very grateful for any help regarding this since I do not wish to go back to a closed source system again.

If you need any more info just let me know.

P.S. as the noob I am please write very simplyfied solutions.

    Thank you // RoZioN

The simplest 'test' is to add acpi=off to the kernel line of /boot/grub/menu.lst

This file has to be edited as root. The simplest way is to open a konsole shell and type:
    Code:
    kdesu kate /boot/grub/menu.lst
You want to add acpi=off to the end of the first kernel line in the boot list. Save and reboot your system. No guarantee it will give you working sound, but it is one of the solutions (it was for my setup) for no sound on laptops.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.
