where is compiz-fusion on kubuntu 7.10?

    Hi,

I'm new on this forum, so be good to me!!!

I read that the new ubuntu have compiz-fuzion installed by default, then i downloaded and installed the kubuntu on my pc... but surprise there was no trace of compiz on my system!!!

How can i install compiz-fuzion on my kubuntu gutsy on a asus notebook? I have a intel video card, 3d works great by default, then i don't need to create a xgl x server.

Compiz-fusion is default with ubuntu (gnome) not with kubuntu (kde).
Compiz is still a bit buggy with kde.

    This should get you started:

you can probably ignore the fglrx stuff.

If you do a search here for compiz-fusion you find a lot of info.

Welcome and I hope this helps

What is the difference between beryl and compiz-fusion?

And why would anybody install compiz-fusion over beryl or beryl over compiz-fusion?

To put it simply first there was compiz then there was a fork called beryl. Or was it the other way around??
Anyway they both decided to work together so they married (fused, merged, whatever) and had a child called compiz-fusion. Beryl is not supported and is an integral part of compiz-fusion.

As mentioned said that is putting it simply

So beryl stops here and compiz-fusion goes on.

Does it work without bugs in KDE? Or is it only optimalized for gnome?

Not trying to hijack the thread but i seem to have similar issues. I installed compiz as from your thread link above but when i try to run it says no xgl (i have a working nvidia card) . Then it says: Starting emerald
/usr/bin/compiz.real (cube) - Warn: Failed to load slide: freedesktop.
Another thing is adept notifier comes on top of the desktop and cannot be closed unless i restart X server.
