Is it possible to roll back to an earlier version of wine? If so, how?

In an earlier post i described a problem I'm having with some wine games after my gutsy upgrade. Poking around on the winehq site, it seems that there was a similar problem in wine 09.41 it was fixed but reappeared in versions 09.46 (what I have on gutsy) and 09.47. So is there a way to go back to one of those versions with the fix?

I made a backup of my feisty system but I like gutsy and don't want to go back at least not just for a couple of wine programs.

The clean way to do it would be:

Delete or rename ~/.wine
sudo apt-get remove wine
Download a deb for the version you want from http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/index.html
Click on the downloaded file and install it with KPackage, or use dpkg.
Run winecfg

There doesn't appear to be an earlier version of wine in the archive for 7.10, but I would expect a 7.04 package to be fine.
