Yeah, OK, it was silly to try it, but I installed the xserver-xgl package anyway and compiz and attempted to get it to load on Gutsy. Funny thing -- it does load (kinda destroys the window decorator in the process) and replaces my Nvidia driver and xorg server, but doesn't actually function as a window manager. But, even after restarting with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, the sucker is still grabbing 10% of my dual-core CPU resources ... hmmmmm
