    Offline Wifi Install - Possible?

Hi all, I'm trying to get a fresh install of Kubuntu onto a wireless network. My card uses a Broadcom chip and with earlier Kubuntu versions I've used Ndiswrapper. With Gutsy it looks like you can use fwcutter. I've tried following the offline instructions here:

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi.../bcm43xx/Gutsy

I tried installing fwcutter via the .deb file and it gave an error as it depends on a newer version libc6. I got a copy of that, tried installing but that has dependencies and so on...

Is there an easy way of doing this or should I just bite the bullet and get all the updates with an ethernet cable plugged in? How come the restricted driver manager isn't installed by default? Is there a way to get it off the Kubuntu install cd?

    Thanks.

Tried compiling ndiswrapper but it exited with error code 2. Next stop is moving the machine nearer the router to plug in a cable to get the updates and correct packages. Seems a shame not to be able to do this out of the box.
