    network-manager broken

Recently my system froze while Synaptic Package Manager was installing some networking utilities and was also removing network-manager. I had to restart and when I did, Synaptic told me that network-manager was broken. It wants to reinstall network-manager, but my internet won't work so I can download it.

Can I install network-manager in another way, such as from a Kubuntu live CD? Or is there some smart way (e.g. from the command line) of fixing my internet without network-manager? I couldn't figure out how with ifconfig...

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Re: network-manager broken

You should be able to install it from the live-cd, when you alter the file
    /etc/apt/sources.list.
This is the line you should be looking for, or at least something like this.
    # deb cdrom: [Kubuntu 7.10 _Gutsy Gibbon_ - Release i386 (20071016.1)]/ gutsy main restricted
Just remove the '#' at the beginning of that line.

You can also use Synaptic to enable the line, but I don't know how, cause I'm using Adept Manager here and I don't have a clue of how Synaptic looks like.
In Adept Manager, there's something like 'Manage Repositories', where there's a tab called "Third Party Software". There you can also find the specified line...so that you're able to enabled it. Just check the checkbox
