What make of wireless card do you have?

If you are using knetworkmanager you can easily 'Connect to a different network'. This will give you a place to input the SSID and password.

Re: wireless - not able to detect network

I have done a little research. Ubuntu/kubuntu has issues with connecting to wireless networks with hidden SSIDs. Sometimes it will work, but most of the time it will not. If you have control over the router I recommend setting it back to broadcasting the SSID. Kubuntu will then be able to easily connect.

Here is a link I found on the ubuntu forums regarding hidden SSIDs: http://blogs.technet.com/steriley/ar...ess-ssids.aspx

            hmmm
            will try unhiding the network

but why i did it is.. as soon as it is visible by default, my router starts to behave strangely... hangs a lot.. speeds decrease etc...

            anyways will try it
