    knetworkmanager+static ip+wpa/tkip

I'd like to set static ip, but unfortunately I can't manage
Everything works great with dhcp. If somebody could spare a minute and have a look at this.
    Some output (running on dhcp):
    ifconfig
    Code:
    eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:11:43:78:C9:E6
         UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1

    Then I change /etc/network/interfaces to:
    Code:
     auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback
    address 127.0.0.1
    netmask 255.0.0.0

    auto eth1
    iface eth1 inet static

    pre-up iwpriv eth1 set EncrypType=TKIP
and when I try to reload network:
    Code:
     sudo /etc/init.d/networking force-reload
     * Reconfiguring network interfaces... Invalid command : set
    Failed to bring up eth1.
                                                                 [ OK ]
Anybody knows what I'm doing wrong?
Just to add that I'm running Gutsy Gibbon on Dell Precision M70 with ipw2200. I've just checked
    Code:
     iwpriv eth1
    eth1 Available private ioctls :
         set_power (8BE0) : set 1 int & get 0
         get_power (8BE1) : set 0 & get 80 char
         set_mode (8BE2) : set 1 int & get 0
         get_mode (8BE3) : set 0 & get 80 char
         set_preamble (8BE4) : set 1 int & get 0
         get_preamble (8BE5) : set 0 & get 16 char
         reset (8BE6) : set 0 int & get 0
         sw_reset (8BE7) : set 0 int & get 0
         monitor (8BE8) : set 2 int & get 0
Anyone knows how my /etc/network/interfaces should looks like?

    Re: knetworkmanager+static ip+wpa/tkip

It doesn't really answer your question, but can you configure your router to always give a specific address to your computer? Seems that would be the easiest solution, if it's an option for you.

      Re: knetworkmanager+static ip+wpa/tkip

I know that's the way around, but:
      1. static ip is more secure
      2. when I turn on dhcp, I somehow can't connect my PocketPC to my WLAN
      3. I can't believe that static ip and wpa don't work together on Gutsy Gibon especially with ipw2200
      4. I know I could use different network manager, and I think I'll have to start using one, but that's not really an answer

      any ideas?
