    Stuck in Manual config

My frustration level is at an all time high. I installed Gusty 7.10 last night and was up and running fine with everything. Even got fwcutter to work great an my in-laws house. Downloaded all the updates etc. I get home and fire up the laptop and bam kmanager finds my wireless network right away. I am one happy camper! ,

Then it wont connect to my network. I think, not a big deal its probably just because I am in the basement. I shut it down and go to bed. Get up this morning and set up the laptop in my office (10ft from my wireless router) and still no luck connecting.

I tried to connect manually but that didn't work so now I am trying to get back out of manual config. In knetwork manager and select auto but it will not come out of manual. The little towers in the Kontrol Module are both red not green even though it shows enabled.

    What am I missing?

    Re: Stuck in Manual config

make sure your /etc/network/interfaces contains nothing but
    Code:
    # The loopback network interface
    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback
    address 127.0.0.1
    netmask 255.0.0.0
Log out, log back in and knetworkmanager should see your network. If it doesn't I have probably overlooked something basic, but a reboot will definitely sort you out...

After ensuring that the /etc/networks/interface file is 'clean' and you've performed a normal shutdown / restart, if you don't see the KNetworkManager icon (looks kinda like a white small thumb drive?), click K Menu | Internet | KNetworkManager and the icon should show in the system tray. Right-click the icon and you should see all the visible wireless networks. All you do is mouse-click (left-click) on your network. This will open the configuration window where you enter your security key. You have to check the box that allows you to see the key you are typing or you won't be able to click the apply/ok button. That done, you should be connected.
