    Can't connect

As the topic says. Somehow I can't connect or get a connection to work with Kubuntu. I've managed to install my Wireless network card on my Dell Inspiron 2200, but now I need to gain access to the web. When I check Connection Info is says 'No active device'. When opening the Manual Configuration I have a local IP adress on my Wireless card and nothing on my wired. Can't disable the wired card either, it just gets reactivated for some reason.

Can anyone help me? This is actually my first time using a Linux system, and I have no idea what I'm doing.

    Re: Can't connect

The next step you must take is connect your wireless card to your Access Point or Wireless Router. What kind of security are you using? WPA, WEP? If you are using WPA, you will have to use wpa_supplicant. WPE is more simple, for it only uses iwconfig.

      Re: Can't connect

ok, changed to use a WEP key instead and now i get an IP adress from my wireless router. now the next step is to get online....

edit: i can access the router settings via my wireless now. i just can't get on the internet... and it still says 'No active device' in my Connection Status...

edit2: don't mind my last comment. a simple reboot and it was all fixed.

thanks for you help there JuliaKuiper

          Can't reconnect wireless network

Hi everybody, Since yesterday i had a trouble with mi wireless card. I have a HP Pavilion Dv6226us with Broadcom (The card is already configurated and enabled) with Kubuntu 7.10 the first day I installed the OS my wireless card was Ok, I can connect very quickly with any active network.
But yesterday with the Knetwork-manager was detecting some open networks but I can't connect to any network.
So I check the settings I went to Knetwork-manager > "Manual configuration" > and I check the settings of eth1 (it was green and appears enabled) > "Configure interface" > In that window was 2 radio buttons "Automatic" and "Manual" but any of them was checked so I thought that the problem was this. And I decided to mark "Automatic" and select "DHCP" when I applied the changes the Knetwork-manager stop to detect any wireless network.
          Somebody know why happens that
Somebody can help me and tell me how to reconfigure the knetwork-manager to re-detect the wireless networks again.
          Thank you
PS: Sorry If my english is not very well...

          Gracias
