Using:<br />Mint Kubuntu 7.10 (kde4 dual core 2.2ghz 4gb)<br />Freenas (nx6325 hp laptop)<br />Mint Gnome 7.10 (EEE Pc 4g white 1 gb ram)
Hi sebmaiden666
My Notebook is a Pavilion Dv6226us and with the new version 7.10 the set up self configure the Broadcom drivers check that yout wireless is On and the light is blue that means on-line.
Check in System Settings > Network Settings if your System detect yout wireless card and check if it's enabled.
If there's Ok and you don't get the wireless network in your area as eggbanjo says check this forum o google to solve it :P
after that i had a blue light but was still unable to connect. after some searching i found that knetwork manager (default kubuntu wireless manager) had some sort of bug using dhcp and some people were setting static ip's (tried it no love). so i disabled it and installed kwifi manager. (also tried wicd worked ok but for some reason runs slower than kwifi manager) so with kwifi manager i was able to connect to my AP consistently but....
it does not start at boot even with the "load config at boot" selected. and i have to manually sudo dhclient wlan0 every boot.
so obviously i m looking for a workaround. just thought you might try the kwifimanager/wicd option to test. its really fast to check.
edit:
i just set mine up static in /etc/network/interfaces
works on boot no dicking around. but i m gonna have to fiddle with a wifi manager or something when i leave my house.
oh yea i m new to kubuntu and so far i thinks its really good.
sudo dhclient wlan0
There is already a pid file /var/run/dhclient.pid with pid 134519120

oh yea doesnt look like you have a wlan0. neither did i until i followed the instructions in the first link. then again i didnt have a blue light either. it was orange. does look like you have eth0 which my wild guess is thats the wireless card.
exactly or did you simply dhclient wlan0 eth1 or whatever
there is a known bug in ndiswrapper with many bcm43xx modules
thats why that tutorial shows you how to blacklist the one that is loading currently and build your own from source code. in the comments of the article many if not most of the people are saying thank you it does work for many dv6000 laptops mine included. if you dont like vim (i cant figure it out) sudo kate or sudo apt-get install mc ( i still really like mc)
again if you havent followed that tutorial i recommend trying it. after doing so you may even have a device "wlan0"
