Belkin PCI Wireless-G Card Model F5D7000

I have those running in like 3 Kubuntu boxes with no issues.

      Check this link out:

      https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...32d21f6d539c53

Then check one of the U/Kubuntu forums and do a search for the card you're considering to see what the status is and whether anyone has trouble with it.

I came to the conclusion that there are three main chipsets (chip in the wireless card) to consider:
      1) Atheros (only card though, not usb)
      2) Ralink (rt73 is easier to use and not as problematic
      3) Zydas zd1211b driver and zd1211 chipset

Although, it is rare, if you find a card with the Realtek r8187 chipset, there is a good chance that will work 'out of the box' as well.

If you consider the Belkin the previous poster recommended, note that there are various versions which have different chipsets:

I use a TEW-424UB, it uses the Sis163u chipset. Using NDiswrapper, it works great! A great value at $20 USD.

It doesn't work out of box, but you only need three things.

        1. http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/mis...pper-utils-1.9
        2. http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/mis...wrapper-common
        3. The WinXP drivers.
        The answers are out there...

Linksys WUSB54GC worked out of the box. I hate the fact that it uses up the only USB port on my old laptop. But... it worked right out of the box.
