I went through with the instruction till the end and rebooted once with the ethernet cable on and once with off. Still no wireless.

I have also tried broadcasting my wireless network and no key for simplicity.

So, I may need some other medicine like compiling the ndiswrapper or something. Please advise.

At least now, I can access the internet with the cable using linux. So, command line updates are much faster.

One thing to check, is whether or not you have a switch on the PC that turns on/off the wireless card? Mine does, and at least one other member today posted that that was what their problem was - the switch was off.

What does your /etc/network/interfaces file look like?

cat /etc/network/interfaces

Copy/paste the output.

Here is what I got ---

Well, I have followed the instruction to the end. Removed stuff and complied the ndiswrapper and reinstalled things per instruction. Then I have rebooted and tried to turn on the wireless network on K-menu, Network settings == Still no luck. I checked the "cat.....interfaces" and still gives me the same output.

Should I try a fresh reinstall from live CD or any better ideas?...

Thanks everyone here and also to nickm from ubuntu forum. I used these instructions and got it working.

I am writing this using the wireless connection.

I had to complete only up to Step 3.

I think I downloaded the firmware from cyber space and installed it. Now I am not sure if ndiswrapper that I have installed is required. Some implied not.

Now I just have to reincorporate keys on my network. I hope it is not that painful.....
