Questions on Wireless Issues..

Hi all,

I would like to ask a few things on wireless issues. I have knetworkmanager open, and I use to check for the wireless networks that were existing in my neighbourhood without me having done some specific configuration. But after some testing with my wireless (I tried to create an ad-hoc network) the wireless net-card has a certain Ip and I can't manage to scan for other wireless networks. Is there something I have to configure back??

knetworkmanager is just not very good. I suggest that you check out wicd http://wicd.sourceforge.net

I've never had great luck with knetworkmanager and wireless. Using Wireless Assistant though made connecting quite easy.

If your card has a wrong IP set, go to System Settings, make sure the dhcp is set and the Default gateway is your router, then disable the interface and enable it again.

For the managing itself, I suggest using wlassistant too (it's in the apt repos).
