Identical printer setup - one works the other not

    Consider this:

    1. One Win2000 - lpt-Lexmark Optra+ attached. Wired to the wireless router. Working. Samba ok - both ways.

    2. One Lifebook laptop, Kubuntu Feisty Fawn, wireless, Samba ok both ways, printing from tis to the Optra+ is just fine.

    3. One BE6-based PC, Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon, wired to the Win2000 (1), Samba ok both ways - not possible to print to the Optra+.

When I locate the printers in Kcontrol - everything is identical. I have checked, redone, slept the entire night and rechecked. Everything really is the same, as far as I can see.

Two options - there is some difference between the way printers are controlled due to the upgrade? If so, what, where to look?

The other - The installation on #2, the laptop, went without any problem at all, down to finding the correct wireless access point while I had dinner. The BE6-based, #3, suffered from a SCSI instability with Edgy Eft, so I left it until I got a new backplane that works very well, integrating the two ex server backup disks that holds the home directories on one and the rest on the other.

After I had seen it stable, installing all upgrades for Feisty Fawn, I upgraded using the Adept Manager method. It crashed in the end, I had a lot of graphics board trouble, but eventually everything seems ok. But still - can there be something here?

For the moment I will not upgrade the laptop, as that is the one I don't experiment with.

Anyone having any idea at all?
