If you are physically located in Europe, the problem was probably due to your retaining US software sources (repositories) in adept for downloading.
By switching to a polish download site for the polish language version of the program, the problem was solved.Comment

Looking at my etc/apt sources file,it shows US sites. I also found a sources file in the opt folder that has Polish repos. I added medibuntu and this shows up in the opt file also. I'm not pretending to understand all this but my adept update and manager are working normally now.
