Wifi internet connection Kubuntu 7.10 with HP laptop

    Hi,
I'm new to Linux and Kubuntu...
I really am not able to run my wifi card to get connected to the internet.
Clicking on KNetworkManager I can see the wifi ADSL router name, but when I say to activate the connection the procedure stops after a while saying that the connection cannot be setup.
STRANGE thing: if i press the wifi button on my laptop, the blue light normally indicating (under Windows) that wifi is on is not lighting up...
So I really don't understand if wifi is on or off, but the router name was detected so wifi should have be on at least for some time...
    The laptop is Pavilion dv4000

    HELP!!!!

    Thank you

Try utilizing KWiFiManager instead. It should be installed (K Menu | Internet | KWiFiManager). KNetworkManager is known to be problematic with wireless management.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

OK, it finds the connection but don't let me do anything else (I mean no CONNECT button is activated)

How are you connecting to your router ?
