    network problem - upgrade - 3com 3C920 card - worked under Feisty

I did an upgrade - and came almost through. After rebooting I cannot connect to the internet - Network is Unreachable
KNetworkmanager doesn't find any card (anymore)
dhclient connects nicely to the router on 192.168.1.1 but doesn't get any carrier (or what it is called) to go further.
Right now I think the biggest trouble is that KNetworkmanager doesn't find my card - is that a driver missing?

If you go to K>System Settings>Network does the card show up? If so, click the Administrator Mode button and enter your password. The click on your card and click configure. Check the box that says Activate at startup.

I couldn't start systemsettings - it crashed. But I could start kcontrol and do the same thing from there. So in stead of using dhcp I typed a free IP-address on the network. Why I can't use dhcp anymore I don't know but anyway I am now on the internet - and your method worked for me. Thank you
