    wifi freezes my computer!!

    Hello,

I have a very serious problem with my wifi connection (I have a SMC SMCWPCI-G with Realtek 8185 chip): when I navigate through Google maps or use a P2P program (bittorent or amule), after a short moment, my computer get completely freeze.

    Do anyone know why?
My impression is that the connection open too much thread that arrive to saturate the wifi.

Is there any option to limitate the number of connections that can open a program. I try to control it through the P2P program without success. And for Google maps, with Firefox, I don't know how to control it.

Thx so much for your help.

First, I don't agree that it is an issue of threads. You might test it in FF by going to about:config and adjusting the entries related to connections.

what do you think I have to test on firefox?
I look for about:config parameters. Wich are the ones I have to look?
      - network.http.max-connections
      - network.http.max-connections-per-server

      and for P2P programs?

        and for P2P programs?
Yes, you can adjust those settings down to your hearts content. When you get to 1 each, you will remember what 9600baud dial-up was like.

For the P2P programs, most of them in their settings will allow you to adjust max connections.
