OK, something happened between the time I went to bed last night and the time I got up this morning; I cannot connect to the internet when logged in. I didn't log out or anything; it was working when I went to bed, but has just "stopped". KNetworkManager shows it's connected, and I was able to reboot into recovery mode and update my computer from there, but that is as far as the internet goes. Any ideas?
Edit: Now I've rebooted, it will neither allow me to enable my ethernet connection nor does it show my IP address.
Edit: I figured it out and fixed it; somehow my Nvidia driver had become corrupted and that was in some way preventing me from connecting to the internet via GUI. I rebooted several times and noticed X wouldn't load most of the time, so I changed the driver from "nvidia" to "nv", backing up first, and rebooted. Lo-and-behold, not only did the GUI (KDM) work, but I could connect to the internet. I downloaded the newest version of Envy, modified "cassandra" to say "gutsy" in it's config, uninstalled my old driver and reinstalled it; I then restored my old X configuration and rebooted. Voilà, I had a GUI, Compiz, and the internet!
