I have Ubuntu & kubuntu gutsy installed on the same harddrive with seperate partitions for both.
To get the wirless usb modem to connect i had to modify the sierra module by adding the necessary identifications for the modem to the sierra.c file then rebuild and install the module.
This works fine on Ubuntu but for some reason when booting Kubuntu the unused onboard lan interferes with the connection somehow.
In ubuntu was is a simple matter of setting up connection with pppconfig then then adding sierra to /etc/rclocal reboot and pon provider .
In kubuntu after doing same it comes up with the modem connected automaticly after reebot but does not work.
After dissabling the onboard lan in the bios kubuntu works the same as ubuntu.
Would i be correct in assuming this is specific to the kde networkmanager.
Any sujjestions would be most welcome as it is a little annoying.
regards
Sharke
Ps
Kubuntu alot faster than Ubuntu.
