    installation & program selection

    Hi

I'm planning to install Kubuntu 8.04 as soon as it can be fetched. Howewer, is there's a method to select which programs and apps to be installed, after I installed Kubuntu 7.10 recently, I after that spending lot of time to uninstall a softwares that I didn't need, eg dolphin, openoffice aso.

I'm some of a newbie (used linux for only half a year) so my questions is if it's easy to install Kubuntu with the 'alternate.iso' insdead of the desktop version. Does the alternate version of Kubuntu offer any program choices or is it too technical? How does the 'alternate version' works?

b0uncyfr0 / Topic: Compare Desktop Vs Alternative:
You can also install kde-core in the alternate-cd. The livecd only comes with the full blown kubuntu-desktop whicih is a bit much for me. I only use about half of the apps that it comes with so kde-core is the base for me.
kde-core- the K Desktop Environment core modules
This metapackage includes the core official modules released with KDE. This
includes just the basic desktop (browser, file manager, text editor, control
center, panel, etc.) and important libraries and data, in addition to the
    aRts soundserver.
