    Xp missing in grub:- (

    After i installed windows , then i installed linux.Dont know why grub didnt detect linux??

    I have windows on sda5 , i modified grub entry as follows , but i get an error(unrecognised device) when i click on windows entry in da grub.Some one plzz suggest me wat to do??

    Well, the XP boot entry looks OK, assuming there is not a typo in there at (hd0,4).

    I think the problem is that you have XP on a Logical partition within an Extended partition: sda5 = fifth partition => it is in an Extended partition (since only 4 primary partitions are allowed on the disk). Windows will not boot from an Extended partition (i.e., from a Logical partition).

    Short story:
    Put XP one one of these: sda1, sda2, or sda3 (NOT on any partition beyond these).

      Sorry but it seems that you have to reinstall windows at the first.
      I recommend to create a new patition table, so you can select partition type and sizes.
