KDE4 questions

I recently installed KDE4 and i noticed some differences comparing to KDE3.

1. I noitced that under K ->... some applications or programs are shown twice, one for the case of KDE3 and once for KDE4. Is there a way of showing only the applications for the one or the other KDE?
2. After right clicking of a file, lets say menu.lst i no longer have the selection "edit as root" as shown in KDE3. Why? Is there an other way to do that in KDE4?
3. Disks & Filesystems are no longer shown under System Settings in KDE4. Why? Can they be restored?
4. On the top right corner of my desktop there is a small area for adding widgets. Can it be removed?
5. When i try to change the background of my desktop it becomes white! Is there a known bug?
6. When i launch Ktorrent i get a message like "sorry - plasma workspace cannotl loada ktorrent". Ktorrent of course launches...

Sorry for all the questions but i'm newby and surely not happily surprised by KDE4...

1) From what I've read else where, editing the menu is the only way. Fintan had some suggestions in a post.
2) I know that when I hover over an icon there will be two to three tiny icons around the edges of the main icon
One is of a Wrench. This should get you to what you want.
3) This area is still under work. Don't know when it will be added
4) Don't know, never tried. Hasn't bothered me that much -- yet
5) I have seen this from time to time mostly with Desktop Effects on, probably a Compositing issue.
6) Haven't tied that. If I do, I'll report back.
